WORLD MUSIC WORKSHOPS
February Half Term 2007
Back due to popular demand, Global Villages returned to North Yorkshire in February half term. More than 150 children were introduced to new and exciting instruments, including djembes, panpipes, samba drums, marimbas and more!
Children aged 8-12 were privileged to work with professional musicians from around the globe in a series of one-day workshops designed to give a crash course in a new kind of music.
Rhythm Attack were received with delight in Selby and a one-off workshop in the centre of Harrogate. SuGaR JaM MuSiC delighted children in Craven and Nidderdale with their fusion of various world music styles, while Plastic Chairs brought the sounds of Greek music to the Ryedale area.
Fifteen workshops took place throughout half term, each producing a unique performance at the end of the day.
As ever, participants had loads of fun, made new friends and even walked away with a free t-shirt! With such talented musicians in North Yorkshire, everyone is looking forward to the next project from Tune-in.
