Since 2003, Harrogate International Festivals has attracted audiences in excess of 300,000 and brought over £14 million of spend into the local economy. Each of our festivals and events attract new audiences into the region year on year, providing world-class entertainment and innovative events that put Harrogate on the map as an international centre for arts and culture.
Music of all kinds remains at the heart of our activities with the International Festival. Since 2003, this calendar has been augmented by the critical successes of the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, and our lead role in the North Yorkshire Youth Music Action Zone reaching out to over 5,000 young people across the county. Our strategic development is creating a portfolio of some of the country’s most prestigious arts events, featuring the biggest names in the arts world. In 2008 we are launching two more festivals with key strategic partners:- The Carnegie Sporting Words Festival in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, and The H2O Festival in partnership with Yorkshire Water.
