Global Villages Returns!

Back by popular demand, Global Villages retuns to North Yorkshire for another half term of fun World Music Workshops for children aged 8-12. We are delighted to be able to offer workshops by Ana Garcia during the October half term 2009. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment!

Participants will spend the day learning about the art of Flamenco dance, experiencing new sounds and learning about the traditions and culture of Spain. The workshops will round off with a short performance by the participants for an invited audience of families and friends, offering a platform for them to showcase their new skills.

Ana Garcia, flamenco dancer

Ana Garcia, flamenco dancer

Flamenco describes the traditional music and dance of Spain. It is accompanied by guitar, but the dance itself is very percussive and is an important part of the music. Both men and women dance Flamenco, and it is very exciting and energetic!

Ana Garcia is a flamenco dancer and choreographer, running weekly flamenco dance classes in Birmingham, and teaching at the highly regarded Elmhurst School of Dance. Aside from performance, Ana also choreographs for a range of dance, music and operatic productions in France, Spain and Germany. From beginners through to intermediate/advanced, Ana’s popular sessions have become an essential fixture for anyone interested in learning flamenco dance.
