One of the world’s great bass-baritones, Sir Willard White is famed for his enormous, rich voice and powerful stage presence. He has sung in every major opera house around the world, building up a huge repertoire and receiving rave reviews wherever he appears. Paul Robeson – whose voice White is often compared with – was a powerful influence on his career.
Here he explores his hero through his life and music. An evening of unforgettable spirituals, jazz and folk including the mesmerising Ol’ Man River.
