An exceptional Gala Concert to celebrate 40 years of Festival music making in the Royal Hall welcomes the world’s most famous chamber orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by one of today’s great British conductors Sir Neville Marriner. Featuring the international award-winning Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma in Saint-Saëns’ sparkling showpiece and Schubert’s brilliant Rondo, the programme concludes with Bizet’s early Romantic masterpiece written when he was just sixteen.

The Academy’s concerts are renowned for their atmosphere of friends coming together for the simple joy of making music. Join us for this very special event and landmark concert in Yorkshire’s musical calendar.
